Under the patronage of the Dean of the School of Medicine, Prof. Yasser Al-Rayyan, and under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs in the Basic Departments, Dr. Maram Abdaljaleel, and in the presence of several faculty and administrative staff members and students of the “Jerusalem" batch, the White Coat ceremony was held on Thursday, 7/11/2024 in the amphitheater. This ceremony comes on the occasion of the Jerusalem batch - Class of 2021 - finishing the first three years of their educational career. Our students completed the basic stage known as the theoretical stage and moved to the clinical stage starting in the fourth year, to complete their education and training in the medical school. This joyful ceremony reflects the great dedication and commitment of our students who have successfully passed this important stage and embodies a new beginning for a stage full of challenges and opportunities in the medical field. Their transition to the clinical stage represents an important step towards achieving their professional ambitions, as they will undergo an intensive practical educational experience that will contribute to refining their skills and increasing their medical knowledge.
The ceremony included a speech by Prof. Yasser Al-Rayyan in which he stressed the importance of the next clinical stage of medical education and its role in building the students' personalities as successful doctors. A speech by Dr. Maram Abdaljaleel, in which she was keen to emphasize the importance of sincerity in work, taking care of patients, good time management, physical and mental health, and social relationships especially family ties.
Prof. Jihad Al-Ajlouni also gave a speech to the students in which he emphasized a set of values and ethics that a doctor must have, especially when dealing with patients. It is important for the physical and psychological health of medical students and their role in this humanitarian profession.
The ceremony also included a speech by the class representative, Mohammad Al-Rababah, a poetry paragraph written by Osama Al-Zaarir and Fawaz Al-Mady, a class speech presented by Jihad Qassem, and a number of presentations done by the students: Farah Hajjar, Fares Qubaj, Lynn Hamaydah, Ezzedine Shawabkeh, Alaa Al-Najdawi, Malak Abu Zubaid, Abdullah Al-Jariri. , Amir Shtayyeh, Nour Khayyat, and Jana Khawaja. The ceremony concluded with the recitation of the medical oath by Dr. Maram Abdaljaleel and all the students from Jerusalem batch. Our students pledged to be faithful and dedicated to medical work, to preserve the lives and secrets of patients, and to abide by the law of God and the laws of the country. This oath is a symbol of commitment and dedication to the medical profession, and a pledge by our students to the highest standards of professional ethics and humanitarian service.
