Under the patronage of Prof. Nathir Obeidat, President of the University of Jordan, the JU Doctor's League competition was held in its second edition at the School of Medicine on Thursday 17/8/2024, in the Medical Halls Complex.
Prof. Yasser Rayan, Dean of the School of Medicine, gave an opening speech in which he emphasized the University of Jordan's excellence in various fields, including student activities, which it is keen to support and encourage because of their impact on developing and refining students' abilities and personalities. He also stressed the importance of fair competition and sportsmanship during the competition.
The competition consists of three rounds. In the first round, there was a confrontation between each two teams of the eight competing teams through 6 questions. From this round, four teams qualified and moved on to the second round. As for the second round, the speed factor was important in scoring points and two teams qualified from it. As for the third round, it included the two teams that qualified from the previous rounds and the team that qualified from the previous JU Doctor's League competition in the last semester, and the first place was won by Asim Abu Hamdan, Muhammad Al-Saad, and Abdullah Bani Atta. Zaid Samarat, Khaled Arjan, and Waseem Hamza team came in second place. In third place are Ahmed Al-Ajalin, Abdullah Khalifat, and Salma Nofal. The students who won the first three places were honored by Prof. Nafeth Abu Tarbosh, Deputy Dean for College Affairs and Postgraduate Studies and Dr. Maram Abdaljaleel, activity supervisor and assistant dean for student affairs in the basic departments.
The competition included two segments of musical playing on the oud, electronic keyboard, and guitar, presented by Abdullah Al Shawa, Rashid Abu Saleh, Laila Allan, and Zeina Mehyar. Belarabic team also presented a Q&A section focus on the correct Arabic translation of the medical terms.
It is worth noting that this course witnessed a distinguished student presence from the School of Medicine students in all academic years, as well as invited students from all medical colleges in the Jordanian universities.
