- The General Surgery residecy program at Jordan
University Hospital is a structured 5-year postgraduate training program
leading to higher specialization in General Surgery. The program provides core
training in general General Surgery including a balanced supervised hands on
training in both inpatient and outpatient management. As well as exposure to
all main subspecialties in the field.

- The vision of the program is to train and mentor
future General Surgeons to cater for the requirements of the local medical
sectors, and to transform patient's health across their lifespan.
- Mission statements of the
program:
The mission of the program is to train specialists
in General Surgery who are highly capable and confident in managing the
complete spectrum of conditions that arise in the area of patient health care,
humanely and with the highest of ethical standards and integrity. These future
Surgeons will contribute to the community in the areas of education and
research as well providing excellent clinical care.
• To
train the new generation of General Surgeons in all aspects of the specialty,
including prevention, diagnosis, and management of a broad range of conditions
affecting patient’s health.
• To
equip the trainee with an in-depth understanding of the principles of
scientific research, and encourage their involvement in clinical research and
academics, as well as applying the concept of problem-solving, and
evidence-based medicine
• To
facilitate involvement in clinical and theoretical teaching of the specialty.
• To
develop leadership skills in the field of health care delivery.
• Encourage
the culture of self-evaluation and critical appraisal to ensure that they
remain effective clinicians, teachers, and investigators throughout their
careers.
