As part of the efforts of School of Medicine (SOM) in serving the local community, the SOM at the University of Jordan organized a free medical day in the town of Karama in the Jordan Valley on Thursday, 5-1-2023. This volunteer day was held with the joint efforts of the Clinical Training Office and student committees in the SOM , in cooperation with a delegation from Weill Cornell University from the State of Qatar. This event was held at Al Karama Health Center, and the team included a group of medical students and doctors from the University of Jordan Hospital. The event included diagnosing cases and providing medical advice in various medical specialties (paediatrics, internal medicine, urology, ear, nose and throat surgery, general surgery, and ophthalmology). In addition to distributing free medicines and conducting blood sugar and pressure checks for patients. The participating students also provided assistance in organizing the events and presenting gifts to children during the event. Members of the local community attending the event expressed their appreciation for the SOM for its efforts in supporting the local community. *Office for Quality Affairs and Communications. With great sadness, the Dean of the School of Medicine and members of the academic and administrative staff mourn the late Dr. Nasser Ghaleb Abu Rish, one of its distinguished graduates, who passed away in the United States after a scientific and professional career full of giving and distinction, where he, may God have mercy on him, obtained scientific and professional qualifications and Board certificates from the United States in the field of Internal Medicine and clinical Hematology and Oncology . The school of Medicine administration also extends its sincere condolences to the family of the late Dr Abu Rish and his loved ones. May God have mercy on him and grant his relatives patience and solace.

The School of Medicine, represented by the school’s Dean, Dean’s deputy and assistants, and members of the teaching and administrative staff, mourns its great loss: Professor Ahmed Saeed Ahmed Al-Sheikh Al-Sarugiya, who passed away on Friday, 9/22/2023. As the School of Medicine mourns its great loss, it recalls his pioneering and generous professional and academic career full of great achievements in providing and serving the health sectors and the national academy. He, may God have mercy on him, was one of the first generation who laid the foundation stone for the Department of General Surgery and Endocrine Surgery at Jordan University Hospital, and his efforts as a professor will be always highly recognized ,as he served in the School of Medicine for several decades in teaching, training successive batches of graduates with Bachelor and Higher specialization degrees ,those graduates made their way after graduation as Physicians and Professors who occupy important academic and professional positions inside and outside Jordan. The late professor also held a number of leadership administrative positions at the academic and professional levels. The School of Medicine staff extend their sincere condolences to Dr .l Al-Sarugiya ‘s family, colleagues and students.
