The School of Medicine holds a Free Medical day in Jerash Governorate

The School of Medicine at the University of Jordan, under the guidance of the Dean and the Office of Student Affairs at the Clinical Stage and Graduates, held a free medical day at Souf Primary Health Healthcare – Jerash Governorate  On Saturday, April 6, 2024 .This free medical day was held  with the participation of resident doctors at the University of Jordan Hospital (higher specialization in medicine) and students of the clinical years at the School. of Medicine.

 During the medical day, several clinics were provided covering all basic medical specialties, including internal medicine ,    general surgery, paediatrics and ear -nose - throat. Free basic laboratory tests were also performed for patients and the necessary primary health care was provided to them by the participating medical team. Free medications were also dispensed to patients based on the recommendations of treating doctors in the medical clinics during the medical day.

It is worth noting that the medical supplies needed to complete the medical day were provided through contributions and donations by multiple community and student groups, including the Kuwaiti Community Association and a number of local pharmaceutical companies (Josoy Company, Al-Wafi Drug Store, Oman Pharmaceutical Industries Company, Islamic Center Society, D-Smart Company, Tlaa Al-Ali Hospital).

The visitors and beneficiaries of this voluntary health event from the residents of the region expressed their thanks and appreciation to the participants and supervisors of the event, especially as they pointed out that this medical day is the first in the town in several years.

After completing the medical day activities, the student participants took a student tour in Jerash Governorate to interact with the local community and learn about the beautiful natural landmarks of the region and the local products of the residents.

The team that supervised  the organization and holding of the event  from the School  of Medicine included  Dr. Fida Thikr Allah, Assistant Dean for students in the Clinical years and Graduate Affairs, Ms. Haifa Mahasneh, Assistant Dean for Guidance, and a group of students. Ms. Nancy Bani Hamad from the Office of Quality and Communication Affairs also participated in the event to take feedback from the local community  and their comments about the effectiveness.

The School  administration, represented by the Dean, extends its thanks to all the doctors, volunteers and donors who contributed to the success of this medical day.

The administration looks forward to more upcoming community events to enhance the values of participation with the local community and provide voluntary health services based on the needs of different community groups.
