Under the auspices of the School of Medicine at the University of Jordan, and organized by Bel-arabi non-profit organization, a training course in the art of debates was held on Monday and Tuesday, July 15-16, 2024. The intensive 8 hour training was attended by 25 students.
The course covered debate fundamentals, structure, and process. Students learned the roles of proposition and opposition in argumentation and refutation. It ended with practice debates, preparing participants for the upcoming event: "Should the government or insurance companies bear the cost of treating lung cancer caused by smoking?"
This course was conducted by a group of distinguished and creative trainers from the Debate and Culture Initiative, namely: Dr. Ahmad Quzli, Dr. Mohammad AlRafayia , Dr. Mohammad Abu Halaweh, and student Yazan Al-Rashdan, under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs in the basic departments Dr. Maram Abdaljaleel.
It is worth noting that this training course comes in preparation for the awaited debate event, which will take place tomorrow, Thursday, 18/7/2024, from 11-1, Medicine Building (3) / Amphitheater 1.
