The students, Bayan Abu Al-Ragheb (fifth year) and Yazan Hamadneh (fourth year) won the Global Scholar-in-Training Awards presented by the American Association for Cancer Research for the year 2023. This is a prestigious award offered by the association, in which hundreds of researchers from different parts of the world compete.  Only 15 researchers won the award this year, and our two distinguished students were the only ones from Jordan.

Ms. Abu Al-Ragheb and Mr. Hamadneh will receive the award during the annual conference of the association, which will be held from 14-19 April 2023 in Orlando, Florida, in the United States of America.

The research Ms. Abu Al-Ragheb focused on microRNA molecules (miRNA) in breast cancer in women and their association with the expression of the androgen hormone receptor, as well as cancer metastasis.  The research was supervised by Prof. Mamoun Ahram from the Department of Physiology and Biochemistry.

Mr. Hamadneh investigated the possibility of using glutathione as a biomarker for breast cancer resistance to tamoxifen treatment.  The research was supervised by Dr. Lama Hamadneh from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Zaytoonah University in cooperation with the German Leibniz Technical Institute.
