At the successful completion of the Higher
Specialization Program in Pediatrics, the graduate should be able to:
1. Apply
established and evolving knowledge in biomedical, clinical, epidemiological and
social-behavioral sciences to pediatric patient care.
2. Gather
essential and accurate information about the patient through medical
interviewing, physical examination, behavior and developmental assessment, and
diagnostic studies.
3. Establish
diagnostic and therapeutic decisions based on patient information, scientific
evidence, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills with understanding of
one’s knowledge limits and expertise and appropriate use of consultations and
referrals.
4. Develop
and carry out patient care management plans and prescribe and perform
competently all essential pediatric procedures including resuscitation for
pediatric patients and neonates.
5. Maintain
complete and accurate medical records and utilize information technology to
manage information, access on-line medical information, and support own
education for lifelong learning and proper patient care.
6. Carry
out professional responsibilities and provide effective health care services,
such as controlling health care costs, assuring quality, allocating resources,
and managing a general pediatric clinic independently.
7. Develop
strategies for health promotion, family counseling, and disease and injury
prevention.
8. Demonstrate
effective listening and communication skills with patients, families and other
members of the health care team showing respect, compassion and integrity.
9. Recognize
ethical principles that govern decision-making in pediatric practice and implement
the professional ethical attitude with patients and their relatives including
respect of patient's confidentiality and consent and delivery of care in an
honest, considerate and compassionate manner.
10. Evaluate literature and utilize different scientific methodologies to conduct
and publish scientific research studies and present the results professionally.
