Suturing is an essential skill that a general pratitioner should excel. Therefore, IFMSA-JO organized a suturing workshop to be the starting point to many upcoming similar workshops to improve the skills of medical students .In this workshop, students learned the basics of suturing and became familiar with suturing tools and various types of knots. Practicing knotting was made on dummies that were provided by the skills lab in our medical faculty. With the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan and due to the hard situation that our Syrian brothers are facing, IFMSA-JO started the project "Lastom Wahdakom" meaning "You are not Alone" to support them. This project aimed to support and help the refugees as much as we can, aiming to improve their standards of living adn stand beside them in these unfortunate days.
This project was on Saturday, the 27th of August and 50 students gathered to distribute meals for 500 people at breakfast and giving out 100 Food packages that contained basic essential food products like sugar, rice, tea, noodles and other necessities. IFMSA-Jo arranged a training workshop for 20 of their motivated members about Peer Education for AIDS. Our aims were to provide information and educate attendants about pubertal changes, sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS and healthy sexual activities by providing accurate information as well as reliable resources for further information. Also, the training concentrated on developing communication and group working skills; to acquire facilitation skills that are essential for Peer Education; and acquire basic knowledge in peer education program development.

Students Oday Halhouli and Mohammad Alkhoujah represented the University of Jordan and the Faculty of Medicine in Neuroscience 2016,the 46th annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience(SfN), held November 12–16, 2016, in San Diego, CA.
SfN is a nonprofit membership organization of nearly 40,000 basic scientists and physicians who study the brain and nervous system.It is considered the most important annual forum for the global neuroscience research community.
Presenting a poster, titled "The Association of Polymorphisms in genes related to Vitamin B and Methionine Cycle with the Pathophysiology of Autism in Jordan", twice, and winning the society for neuroscience Trainee Professional Development Award.

The International Federation of Medical Students Associations in Jordan/University of Jordan (IFMSA-Jo/UJLC) have launched the voluntary "Jordan University Hospital Smoke Free Campaign" in collaboration with the hospital's Anti-Smoking Committee.
60 clinical students completed a two-day work shop about Tobacco Dependence Treatment held in collaboration with King Hussein Cancer Center at the V Business Center in Khalda.
The aim for this workshop is to train well-rounded medical students who are interested in smoking cessation and to be able to answer patients questions about methods and ways of smoking cessation and to fend the effects of secondary and tertiary smoking in the community | 1/15/2017 | | | | | Faculty | | | 2/14/2017 | | | | | Students | | International Federation of Medical Students Associations in Jordan/University of Jordan (IFMSA-Jo/UJLC) in collaboration with King Hussein Cancer Center organized an Anti-Smoking Awareness Workshop for basic years medical students at the University of Jordan as a part of their project "JUH Smoke Free Campaign" under the supervision of Dr. Nakhleh Abu-Yaghi and under the leadership of Sura Mubarak and Nour Hayek, fourth year medical students at the University of Jordan.
60 students attended this workshop which was given by Cancer Control Office Team in V Business Center in Khalda.
The aim for this workshop was to teach basic years students how to approach smokers, how to spread awareness about smoking prevention in public areas and how to try to convince smokers about smoking cessation. Students were divided into small working groups and worked together towards difficult scenarios they might face in real life situations and how would they tackle these scenarios through a creative problem-solving approach.

Under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abu Abeeleh and under sponsorship and supervision of Jordan University Hospital and also with the collaboration of Faculty of medicine, the International Federation of Medical Students Association in Jordan/ University of Jordan (IFMSA-Jo/UJLC) organized a project that intended to clean plantable areas around the hospital and plant them with flowers. The project took place from 26/3/2017 till 30/3/2017. More than 250 students volunteered in this project from faculty of medicine and faculty of pharmacy as The Jordan Pharmaceutical Students' Association (JPSA) participated with IFMSA-Jo/UJLC in this project as well. All students worked hand in hand to make the hospital a beautiful place that spreads positive energy to patients, physicians, workers and guests. In addition, students were spreading awareness about smoking and prohibiting it in public areas and guiding smokers to the smoking area.

The workshop took place on Saturday 22nd of July 2017, at Bahjat Al-Talhowni auditorium, with the attendance of the Dean, Prof. Nathir Obeidat Vic Deans, Assistant Deans and almost all faculty members. The work shop also preceded by lecture series that was introduced by Dr Yasier Al Hassan, about the exam blueprinting and e- learning
The work shop was started with two lectures presented by visiting doctors, Prof. Mohammed El-Baqer, and Dr. Yasier Al Hassan, who explained the importance of PBL and TBL, in modern medical teaching, followed by interactive questions about the importance of implementing new teaching techniques without ignoring the traditional teaching and learning advantages.

Student Ali Abualhayja'a from school of Medicine published the article which titled "Sixth Class Students' Performance and Confidence Levels Before and After Training in Clinical Skills Laboratories" in the International Journal of Medical Students which considered number one journal for medical students.
The article talked about the importance of training the medical students some procedural skills in Clinical Skills Laboratory such as: suture practice, intravenous (IV) access, intramuscular (IM) injection, Nasogastric tube placement and other skills. This is done by asking the participants to evaluate themselves in performing the selected skills in grade from (1 -10) before and after training for the reason of comparisons. The results showed that the performance and confidence levels were significantly increased after training so that this can have positive effect while performing these skills on real patients.

During the course of this elective, albeit short, I learned of several innovative and exciting technologies and practices within the sphere of advanced gastrointestinal endoscopy. I became extremely fascinated with learning more about some of these practices, and as such pursued a few research opportunities that would allow for deeper exploration and analysis. Although hesitant to undergo a research project at first, due to the unfamiliarity of the program I was enrolled in, I quickly grew fond of it. By the end of my stay at Cornell, I had published three different papers involving various aspects of advanced endoscopy in Endoscopy Journal which is considered one of the best in that field. Looking back at my experience at Cornell, I learned the importance and impact of research on the medical world, and was reminded of the thrill and adventure of learning new and innovative medical practices. I hope to continue undertaking exciting research projects, as well as learn new and innovative medical practices throughout my career. | 12/10/2018 | |
