Guidance meeting for first-year medical students

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Yaser Al-Rayyan, Dean of the School of Medicine, Dr. Maram Abdaljaleel, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, held the second guidance meeting for first-year medical students on Sunday, February 25, 2024, on the first day of the second semester.

The meeting included a welcome speech presented by Prof. Dr. Yaser Al-Rayyan, in which he reviewed the most important stations in the medical student university years, the importance of being prepared for practice, and the required fine, research and clinical skills required. In addition, He focused on the importance of scientific research in the medical profession.

The College of Medicine also hosted Dr. Reem Al-Fayez, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, and Dr. Lina Al-Hiyari, to introduce the students to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, the services it provides, and how to benefit from them. Dr. Al-Hiyari kindly provided an informative presentation in this regard. The meeting also included hosting the student Abdullah “Mohamed Saeed" Hamdan the founder of the CURAINS project, who was able to establish his startup, attract support from several institutions, and share his story and experience with his new fellow students.

We were also honored to host Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Jamra, Deputy Dean of Scientific Research for Research Projects Affairs, who kindly reviewed the support and encouragement provided by the Deanship of Scientific Research to our students, focusing on the excellence of College of Medicine students in the field of scientific research over the past years.

Dr. Maram Abdaljaleel also reviewed the most important points in the Doctor of Medicine study plan, especially for first year students, the requirements for success, instructions for attendance, absence, dress code, and other medical school instructions, and stressed the importance of continuous communication with the Student Affairs Office.

Dr. Fida Thekrallah, Assistant Dean for graduates and students in clinical departments highlighted the role of the Scientific Research Office in supporting and following up on scientific research projects for medical students.
