Open Day for the Cardiovascular System Held at the School of Medicine

On Thursday, 7-12-2023, a scientific open day was held at the School of Medicine, University of Jordan, for the third year medical students, in line with the university's directions to enhance and link the educational process with practical life.

The meeting was held at the initiative and supervision of the coordinator of the cardiovascular system in the Department of Physiology and Biochemistry, Dr. Fatima Al-Riyalat, and the active participation of head of the department, Dr. Ebaa Al-Zayadneh, faculty members Dr. Tamara Al-Qudah, Dr. Fatima Dawood, Dr. Laith Bani Abdulrahman, doctors Dr. Ahmed Abu Hani and Dr. Lynn Al-Hunaidi, laboratory supervisors Mrs. Amal Abu Al-Ragheb, Ms. Suzanne Al-Budoor, Mrs. Fatima Al-Nyas and Mr. Muhammad Hosni.

This initiative was held with the support and coordination of the Deanship of the SOM represented by Prof.Yasser Al-Rayyan, Prof. Nafez Abu Tarboush, Prof. Heba Kalbouna, Dr. Enas Al-Zayadneh and Dr. Maram Abdel- Jalil.

This day included several activities that began with practical and clinical training for students in skills of interest to them in the future, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, ECG, injection, and cardiovascular clinical examination, as it took place in the SOM's clinical skills laboratory, which contains simulation techniques in clinical training. This was followed by an introductory seminar on scientific research in this field presented by a group of researchers and faculty members, which began with Prof. Dr. Amjad Al-Shatrat, Vice President of Aqaba University for Medical Sciences, Dr. Ebaa Al-Zayadneh and Dr. Fatima Dawood.

 

The event concluded with a meeting with an expert from the local community, where the open day hosted the consultant cardiologist Dr. Mohammed Al-Hujairi, who shared with the students his personal experience in specializing in cardiac electrophysiology and career in the United States of America and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in addition to practical tips to increase the chances of admission to the specialization in the United States. At the end of this special day, the students expressed their satisfaction and interest to hold more similar events during their school years, especially in the basic years.
